Thanks for the comments Pete, good to hear from you. Totally agree with you about the real-time data path. That’s exactly the system we have at AVARI too. The older methods of using batched data or freezing recommendations at send time will no longer cut it in a consumer-centric real-time world.

A fully real-time data path is vital for product recommendations. When each customer views a web page or opens/reopens an email, you ideally want recommendations to be based on what they are looking at now – not what they looked at yesterday.
Stock levels are also vital for many organizations. Regardless on how appropriate a product is for a shopper, there is little point in recommending when the stock level is low and you will sell them all anyway. It’s better to push other products that are a slightly worse fit, but which actually need the marketing.
