The easiest way is having email built into the CDP, which a few of them do. RedEye grew from being a marketing automation system with a database, into a CDP, so we’ve had that capability from day one. Others are relying on connectors.

Great article. There is one thing i am missing though: with a CDP in place, you need to have delivery systems in place that can actually absorb and use the data coming from the CDP. In this regard, it has proven extremely hard to find an email marketing automation solution which allows for “ingesting” CDP data for 1:1 personalization.
Are you aware of any email marketing automation platforms that can work well together with a CDP like RedEye?

Certainly many businesses that refer to themselves as a CDP came from a marketing automation background and if you have a database at the heart of that, then more so. Certainly the integration is one of the key elements of a CDP

This was so in the continuity of an other article from hull I looked at yesterday.
I’m working for a marketing automation company and my feeling is that today we are already providing that. I call this marketing database (unifying data from multiple sources so marketers can identify the right audience send the most relevenar message through the best channel). If I get it right CDP is this marketing database on steroid and is more “easy” to implement ?

Hi Jared,
I have to be honest and say I’m 100% biased – I run RedEye and I believe we are the best option for a CDP, but I’ll try and give you an honest set of things I think you should look for and then hope you decide to look at working with RedEye
1. Ensure your CDP can genuinely handle data from online and offline sources, plus will deliver, as standard, to your different outputs. A good CDP will be able to deliver to your channels directly themselves, but as a minimum it must send data to a system of your choice to deliver to those channels
2. Ensure they have good Cross Device Identification in place. Your customers use multiple devices and channels, its critical you use a solution that can tie them together across those channels.
3. Ensure you’ll get full support to get live and on going strategic support to ensure you maximise any investment you go with. This is not a telephone number, its a dedicated set of people that you meet and who understand your business
If you can nail off those 3 things, you are on the way to a solid CDP. As I say, I believe RedEye delivers this – but then I would say that!
