I have myself also moved ESP too many times…..
I totally agree with you that sometimes the most painful issues are the small technical ones that you can’t properly plan for, but I think that the essence of my article is that the more you plan the more of the different issues you automatically manage to cover.

But it is written from bird’s-eye view perspective. From a personal experience, switching ESP is a complex and sometimes painful process that involves many bit sized technical issues.
The most critical part is obviously exporting and importing your data to the new account. In addition you need to prepare your new account and create new fields that will match you previous account.
I liked that you mentioned the overlap period and choosing ESP wisely while considering you growth plans.

Thanks Darcy for you feedback! The article only covers the client’s side of the process. It would be interesting to hear what’s the ESP’s biggest worry within the client migration process. What’s the number 1 thing that has to happen to ensure a successful migration? Any thoughts?
