How long it takes to feel comfortable using it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AWeber really shines here. It\u2019s easy to find your way around. Everything is clean, clear, and well laid out. Like most email marketing platforms, AWeber has customizable templates for designing messages. For choice of templates, AWeber is hard to beat. There are more than 600 sorted into 17 different categories.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"439\" src=\"https:\/\/www.emailvendorselection.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/AWeber-Template-Categories.png\" alt=\"AWeber Review Email Template Categories\" class=\"wp-image-32508\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We all know the point of templates is to give a helping hand in creating pro-quality designs. So how good are AWeber&#8217;s templates? They&#8217;re ok, but not the best I\u2019ve seen. Having 600 to choose from is great, many keep it pretty basic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The coolest template building option in AWeber is the Smart Designer. This lets you create your own custom templates from an existing web page. The whole thing is automatic and takes seconds. It couldn\u2019t be easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.emailvendorselection.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/AWeber-Smart-Designer.png\" alt=\"AWeber Smart Designer Review\" class=\"wp-image-32504\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>To use the Smart Designer, all you have to do is paste in the URL of a web page and click Create. You get a selection of templates to choose from. It\u2019s also a quick way to turn the content of a web page into a newsletter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AWeber Email Editor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>AWeber has three types of email editors. A drag-and-drop editor, a plain text editor, and an HTML editor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"350\" src=\"https:\/\/www.emailvendorselection.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/AWeber-Email-Editors.png\" alt=\"AWeber Email Editor options\" class=\"wp-image-32436\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Plain Text editor is for creating very simple text-only emails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The HTML Editor is actually two options in one. The main view is what we call a WYSIWYG editor. The other option lets you edit the HTML code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s nice to have these options. But let&#8217;s be honest. If you&#8217;re signing up for a service like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emailvendorselection.com\/go\/aweber\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" class=\"ek-link\">AWeber<\/a>, you&#8217;ll use the Drag-and-Drop Editor most. This is where you customize templates and add your content the easy way. To add these to your template, you simply click and drag them into position. The way elements are grouped into rows makes editing layouts very easy and flexible. The editing experience is close to using <a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.emailvendorselection.com\/compare-email-editors-design-responsive-emails\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">advanced external email editors<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A product block<\/strong> makes it easy to add products to your emails. It is a predesigned element with an image, a header for the product name, some text for a description, and a button to take people to the product page. <br>If you have an Etsy store, it\u2019s even easier. By default, it has a dashed border to give a bit of the cut-out coupon feel and to differentiate it from the main content. Click on a block and they appear.&nbsp; One of the options is personalization. You can personalize any text block in your emails. This includes adding names, locations, dates, or any other field there is in your database.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Editing_emails_and_images_in_Canva\"><\/span>Editing emails and images in Canva<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>AWeber has a free image stock library of more than 6,500 pictures. That\u2019s great if you don\u2019t have your own to upload. But the best thing about AWeber\u2019s image options is their integration with Canva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/www.emailvendorselection.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/AWeber-Canva-integration.gif\" alt=\"AWeber Review Canva integration\" class=\"wp-image-32401\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Canva is free to use graphic design software. There\u2019s a button that takes you straight from the AWeber email editor into Canva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can upload your own images and change them with dozens of icons, illustrations, filters, and effects. You can move text and images drag-and-drop anywhere you like within your design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It took me only a few minutes to get the hang of it. You can create your graphics and simply <strong>click \u2018Save to AWeber\u2019 t<\/strong>o drop your creation straight into your email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AWeber\u2019s Blog Broadcast<\/strong> feature turns your blog into a newsletter. All you have to do is set a schedule and your blog posts get sent to subscribers automatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blog Broadcast uses your site\u2019s RSS feed. All you need is to find your RSS feed URL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AWeber lets you A\/B test up to three versions of the same email at a time. So perhaps it should be called A\/B\/C Testing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sending gives you a warning if any issues with spam filters are suspected. Results will show if certain subject lines are landing in the junk folder more. Or if one version of an email is being opened less. Knowing how your email will perform in advance is a big plus for deliverability.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another clever bit of technology AWeber supports is AMP for email. <a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.emailmonday.com\/amp-for-email-ideas-interactive-email\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">AMP makes emails interactive<\/a>, it is not for everyone but great to have the option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Think about how you normally respond to an email. You click the Reply button, right? Or, you click a link that takes you to a web page. That\u2019s when you do things like fill in forms or register for an event. AMP emails mean all that can happen in the body of an email. It started out as a platform for sending automated messages. Or autoresponders, as they became known. Dozens of email marketing services have followed AWeber\u2019s lead. And over the years, email automation features keep evolving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Autoresponders send single messages one at a time in response to an action. So if someone signs up to your list, you can use an autoresponder to send a welcome message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emailvendorselection.com\/marketing-automation-tools\/\" class=\"ek-link\">marketing automation tools<\/a> do a lot more. Instead of a single email, you can now automate chains of messages to send in a drip sequence. Instead of sending to one person at a time, you can automate complex processes that do more than sending emails. Instead of a single action, you can have lots of triggers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Campaigns keep things flexible. You can create straightforward one message auto-responders. Or you can link together several emails into a longer series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"536\" src=\"https:\/\/www.emailvendorselection.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/AWeber-Campaign-Templates.png\" alt=\"AWeber Review Autoresponder Automation Campaign Templates\" class=\"wp-image-32526\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>AWeber has 17 pre-made email workflow templates to get you started. Four are simple and already loaded up in your Aweber account. These campaigns create a string of autoresponders separated by time delays.<br>AWeber doesn&#8217;t do advanced automation. For instance you can&#8217;t add if\/then conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only way to create conditions is by creating new workflows with different triggers based on the logic you want to set up. This can get messy after a couple of conditions. So if you want to build email automation with advanced conditional logic, AWeber is probably not for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Adding tags<\/strong> to contacts is one strong point of AWeber\u2019s automation. Automated tagging helps manage and segment your subscriber lists, as I\u2019ll talk about below. Tags also let you link together email marketing campaigns. A tag can be the trigger for a campaign. But it even tells you that these types are blocked in most browsers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fact that all these options are available for every template is really impressive. Most services have different templates for embedded and pop-up forms.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I like how much you can customize forms in AWeber. But I found the Form Editor itself a little clunky to use. For example, all the template thumbnails display horizontally. On the bigger categories, they disappear off the right-hand side of the page. Its paid-for plans start at almost half the cost of AWeber\u2019s Lite plan, and you get more contacts. Its Free plan is also very generous. You can have up to 500 contacts and send up to 12,000 emails a month, compared to 3,000 emails in AWeber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But MailerLite doesn\u2019t give you any email templates on its Free plan. AWeber gives you access to its basic templates. How do they compare? Brevo\u2019s Free tier is tough to beat. You can have as many as 100,000 contacts. The segmentation tools are excellent. The automation options are better than those on AWeber\u2019s paid plan, including a user-friendly workflow editor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But unlike AWeber, Brevo doesn\u2019t let you build landing pages on its free plan. In fact, you have to pay over $15 a month to create one landing page in Brevo. To get 5 more, it would cost you $24\/month. Aweber allows you to build one landing page on its free plan. Brevo is the cheaper service overall. They both fall into the category of \u201cno-frills\u201d email marketing. Which is to say, they focus on doing the basics well, and at an affordable price. They both have free plans that lets you send broadcasts to a limited number of contacts and both support ecommerce. The cheapest paid tiers are similar in price. But Kit scales up with a more expensive, more advanced tier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each service has one obvious strength compared to the other. Kit is much better for automation. Its visual workflow editor is much better than AWeber\u2019s campaign builder. It&#8217;s easy to use and gives you a lot more flexibility. You can automate entire sales funnels in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Kit isn\u2019t great for building emails &#8211; the bread and butter of email marketing.
