falsche Anzeige der Seiten in der Löschkategorie

Hallo Túrelio, weißt du, warum in Category:Other speedy deletions heute Morgen die ganze Zeit die Anzahl der Seiten in der Kategorie falsch angezeigt wird? Zum Beispiel zeigt sie jetzt 10 Seiten an, aber 5 Kategorien und 4 Dateien darin und sonst nichts. Es wird die ganze Zeit trotz Änderungen und Löschungen und neuen Seiten und Dateien immer eine Seite zu viel angezeigt. Wenn du nun alles darin löschen würdest, würde immer noch eine Seite angegeben, die niemand sieht. Das geht schon den ganzen Morgen so. Wie ist das möglich und gab es das schon mal? Kann es sein, dass irgendeine Seite darin ein Problem hat und nicht angezeigt wird? Und wie findet man so was? Grüße, —176.1.10.52 08:46, 10 July 2025 (UTC)

Hi, das kommt bei Unterkategorien von Category:Candidates for speedy deletion öfter/regelmäßig vor; meist ist die fehlangezeigte Anzahl aber einstellig. Manchmal kann man das Problem durch Löschung des Browser-Cache beseitigen, aber durchaus nicht immer. Einfach ignorieren. --Túrelio (talk) 08:52, 10 July 2025 (UTC)

Apropos Browser-Cache: Das steht bei den temporären Konten, die es nun in der de-Wikipedia gibt, auch dabei, dass eine Löschung des Caches zu einem neuen temporären Konto führt. Bei mir wurde aber ein neues Konto angelegt, ohne dass ich den Browser-Cache gelöscht hätte. Selber Rechner, nur die IP wechselt immer wieder. Aber ich habe den Eindruck, dass wenn mein Browser wegen Überlastung abstürzt und dabei auch diverse Daten verliert, danach auch das temporäre Konto weg ist. Denn das von gestern mit dieser IP angelegte ist heute bereits nicht mehr aktiv und es gab zwischendurch definitiv noch keinen IP-Wechsel und auch keinen Browser- oder Rechner-Wechsel, sondern nur einen Browserabsturz. Vielleicht löscht der auch den Cache? Das werde ich mal weiter beobachten. Und so legt das System bei mir nach kurzer Zeit ein neues temporäres Konto an statt nach 90 Tagen. Es hat schon zwei Konten seit der Einführung dort Ende Juni angelegt, obwohl ich nur an zwei Tagen überhaupt editiert hatte

Wenn ein solches Konto aktiv ist, wird das dem Benutzer oben angezeigt, da erscheinen dann schwarz unterlegt Infos zum Konto mit Links, was man nicht übersehen kann, solange man damit aktiv ist. Die sind nun aber schon wieder dort weg. Ich glaube, seit dem letzten Browser-Absturz, anders kann ich mir das nicht erklären. Davon steht aber nichts in den Hilfeseiten zu den neuen Konten. Dann muss ich aber wieder mit temporärem Konto dort editieren. Dabei sind die mir etwas suspekt, ehrlich gesagt. Ich glaube, ich versuche es mal anders. Aber ich könnte heute noch testen, ob das System mich wiedererkennt, wenn ich da noch irgendwo im ANR was editiere, mit derselben IP wie vorher, demselben Browser und Rechner. Eigentlich müsste das System mir dann auch das nun nicht mehr zugeordnete letzte temporäre Konto wieder zuordnen statt ein neues anzulegen. Ich teste bislang nur mal etwas, wie das überhaupt funktioniert. Die langen Beitragslisten von 90 Tagen für so ein Konto wollte ich eigentlich nicht. Aber offenbar bekomme ich sie ohnehin nicht, weil die Konten bislang ähnlich schnell wechseln wie meine IPs. Dann probiere ich noch etwas damit, bevor ich mich dann irgendwann entscheiden muss.

Für Commons sind sie übrigens ab September vorgesehen, steht im Zeitplan. Also nicht mehr lange, dann sind hier gar keine IPs mehr. Das ist die de-Hilfeseite mit dem Zeitplan ganz unten für andere Wikis und weiterführende Links nach MediaWiki-Wiki, wenn es dich interessiert (oder irgendwelche Mitlesende). Da kannst du rechts auch sehen, wie das Konto für die Benutzer aussieht mit der schwarzen Anzeige oben. Die Links zu Beitragsliste usw. sieht man dort nicht, die sind in einem dieser Pop-up-Menüs rechts oben (wie jetzt auch). Die Konten gibt es noch nicht in vielen Wikis, diesmal ist de-Wikipedia Vorreiter bei den großen Wikis. —176.1.10.52 09:38, 10 July 2025 (UTC)

Ich habe das mal kurz getestet und mir dann die Cookies im Browser angesehen.
Fazit kurz: Ich habe den Eindruck erhalten, dass das neue System nicht wirklich gut funktioniert.

Fazit ein bisschen länger: Mir wurde natürlich wieder ein drittes neues temporäres Konto im de-Wiki angelegt. In den Cookies ist ein ziemliches Chaos, sehr viele Cookies legt WMF allgemein an. Für alle 3 temporären Konten habe ich Cookies mit den Konto-Nummern gefunden, aber für verschiedene Wikis, wo die Konten automatisch angelegt wurden. Zum Verständnis: Wenn man ein aktives in einem Wiki angelegt bekommen hat und sich in ein anderes Wiki weiterlinkt zum Lesen, wird dort auch ein lokales Konto anlegt, aber nur, wo es dort schon temporäre Konten gibt. Das ist seit Anfang Juli mehrfach passiert und davon existieren auch noch Cookies im Browser, die anscheinend nach 30 Tagen ablaufen und nicht erst nach 90. Deshalb gibt es von 3 Konten nun verschiedene Cookies. Es wäre also möglich, dass ich in den verschiedenen Wikis verschiedene temporäre Konten zugewiesen bekäme, wenn ich da editieren würde. Das ist wirklich äußerst merkwürdig. Ich schaue mal, ob ich in diesem Wiki ohne temporäres Konto jemand dazu befragen kann. Denn nun sind diese Konten mir noch suspekter, weil sie sich unberechenbar verhalten. Jedenfalls hat mein Browser nicht alle Cookies beim Absturz gelöscht oder vergessen und macht das normalerweise auch beim Schließen nicht. Daher verstehe ich das Ganze nun gar nicht mehr. Na ja. Im MediaWiki-Wiki steht auch ein solcher Zeitplan und noch mehr Infos und Neuigkeiten und weitere Links auf der Seite. Und das scheint so nicht ganz zu stimmen mit den Cookies. Oder so ein Konto wird „manuell vorzeitig deaktiviert“ von der WMF durch Beenden der Sitzung, wenn ein Browser abstürzt. Denn man kann auch auf „Sitzung beenden“ klicken (habe ich noch nicht ausprobiert); anscheinend beendet der Klick das zuletzt aktivierte Konto und man kann es dann nicht mehr verwenden. Vielleicht wirkt ein Browserabsturz wie ein Klick auf „Sitzung beenden“. Also beendet nicht nur das Löschen von Cookies so ein Konto und vor allem wird es unbeabsichtigt viel früher beendet. Und ob gesendete Benachrichtigungen und Dankeschöns bei so einem Konto ankommen, ist damit völlig unklar, wenn es so schnell wieder unbeabsichtigt beendet wird.  Info Ich fand gerade Commons:Village pump/Proposals#Temporary account IP viewer policy, wo steht, dass die temporären Konten ab dem 22.9. kommen sollen, in der Woche jedenfalls. Und dort wird auch gerade abgestimmt, wer die IPs bei Commons zukünftig sehen können soll abgesehen von der allgemeinen Minimumregelung der WMF. Vielleicht interessiert dich das.

Und in der dieser Schnelllöschkat stehen nun schon über 450 Kats und WL herum, mit Dateien über 500 Einträge dort. So viele habe ich da noch nie gesehen. Manche stehen da nun seit fast 2 Tagen drin (Beispiel). Da kann man sehen, was passiert, wenn du weniger Zeit hast. Es gibt eben doch zu wenige Admins hier bzw. es bleibt zu viel an zu wenigen hängen. Das ist nicht gerade gut. Es gibt nur sehr wenige, die sich überhaupt um Katlöschungen kümmern, habe ich festgestellt. Und meistens dann eher nur um einige Kats statt sehr viele dort. Ich glaube, es gibt nur 3 Admins, die die Kat überhaupt mal ganz leeren. Viele kümmern sich auch mehr um Dateien oder Löschdiskussionen, muss ja auch sein. —176.1.3.20 13:23, 27 August 2025 (UTC)

massenhaft Duplikate

Da die Duplikate-Kat so voll ist, habe ich etwas herumprobiert und dann einen Link zum Ende der Kat gefunden und dort eingefügt. Derzeit sind da 48 neuere Dateien. Wenn die Kat wieder leer ist, kannst du ihn wieder rausnehmen, denn dann ist er sinnlos, weil er dann zum Anfang der Kat zeigt. So kann man nun immer direkt zu den neuesten Dateien kommen und von dort aus auch weiter rückwärts durch die Kat gehen. Du bist dabei ja sehr fleißig und Wutsje auch.

Worüber ich mich dabei wundere: Warum kann der Bot nicht, bevor er irgendwas hochlädt, die Dateien abgleichen und herausfinden, dass es sie schon gibt? Dann bräuchte er sie gar nicht erst hochzuladen und nichts davon würde die Kategorie füllen. Das wäre ständig viel weniger Arbeit für euch. Warum kann er das erst herausfinden, nachdem er es hochgeladen hat, aber nicht vorher? Oder anders: Warum lädt er überhaupt Dateien mehrfach hoch und weiß nicht mehr, dass er sie früher schon hochgeladen hat? Das ist wirklich seltsam. Ein Bot sollte sich seine Beiträge doch merken und sie abgleichen können. Erst recht, wenn sie fast denselben Namen und dieselbe Beschreibung haben. Gerne. Der Bot macht wohl erst mal Pause, geht auch nicht anders.

Ich habe gerade festgestellt, dass, wenn am Ende der Queue gerade keine neuen Dateien sind, man auch keinen Link „previous page“ erhält. Wenn man trotzdem von hinten weitermachen will, z. B. um sich nicht gegenseitig in die Quere zu kommen, wenn da gerade mehrere aktiv sind, kann man einfach die Uhrzeit leicht vorziehen, so sind derzeit die letzten Dateien vom Bot vom 8.7. gegen 19.30:00 Uhr UTC, also 21.30 MESZ, das wäre dann dieser Link, also einfach anpassen. 19 Uhr hingegen ist schon mehrere Seiten weiter vorwärts, denn der Bot hatte eine hohe Bearbeitungsrate. Aber ist eigentlich egal, wo man dort weitermacht.

Ich hatte vor einigen Tagen im Löschlog gesehen, wie Wutsje und du parallel ähnliche Dateien dort in der Kat bearbeitet hattet. Ich dachte mir schon, dass ihr sicher mal dieselbe Datei erwischt. Einmal hattet ihr dann auch in derselben Minute dieselbe Datei gelöscht. Ich wusste nicht, dass das überhaupt geht und die Software sich dann nicht beim 2. Mal weigert, da die Datei schon gelöscht wurde. Aber offenbar ist Doppelt-Löschen direkt hintereinander möglich. Merkt man das überhaupt beim Löschen?

Daher ist es besser, wenn einer von vorne und einer von hinten abarbeitet, wenn mehrere zugleich dort aktiv sind, dann passieren solche Dopplungen nicht (wenn es schon um eine Dopplungskat geht). Man kann vorher im Löschlog sehen, ob jemand anders gerade dort etwas macht, man sieht da ja die blauen gelöschten Dateien sofort.

Und danke für deine Löschungen bei den Kategorien und Falschschreib-Verschieberesten. Da gibt es immer noch viele Kats, die erst noch umbenannt werden müssen, weil der gesamte riesige Kat-Ast bis 2017/18 falsch war. Vermutlich über 1000 noch. Die alle rauszusuchen und das Umbenennen zu beantragen, ist ein Haufen Arbeit, das haben schon jahrelang verschiedene Benutzer gemacht. In den letzten Monaten waren es sicher Tausende umbenannte Buntglasfenster-Kats. An einigen Tagen wurden über 100 nacheinander umbenannt, zuletzt diese 104. Dieser Almanach scheint deutlich über 300 Seiten zu haben, das ist eigentlich völlig unnötige Mehrarbeit. Ich habe noch eine Idee für den Bot. Wenn der nicht vor dem Upload abgleichen kann, ob das schon existiert und dies erst hinterher festgestellt wird: Könnte er nicht bei neuen Büchern immer erst nur eine Seite hochladen, damit die abgeglichen wird, ob es das Buch schon gibt? Dann könnte er sich sämtliche anderen Seiten sparen und lädt sie z. B. erst einen Monat später hoch, wenn klar ist, ob es das Buch noch nicht gibt. So wäre immer nur eine Seite doppelt oder mehrfach und nicht hunderte von Seiten von ganzen Büchern. Das muss doch wirklich effizienter möglich sein. Vielleicht besprecht ihr das noch mal mit dem Botbetreiber, was er da beim Botlauf ändern kann. So würde er auch mehr Bücher schneller hochgeladen bekommen, wenn er weniger Duplikate erzeugen würde. Und ich kann keine Datei-Seiten anlegen, auch keine WL, das können nur angemeldete Benutzer. Daher kann ich da nichts machen. Und danke für die vielen Löschungen. Frage zu angegebenen Löschgründen und Löschlogbuch

hallo Túrelio, eine Frage zu von Benutzern angegebenen Schnelllöschgründen und Löschlogbuch: Meistens übernehmen Admins die Gründe aus der Schnelllöschvorlage, du machst das ja auch so. Ich habe gerade Estevoaei etwas dazu geschrieben, da er die Speedy-Vorlage verwendet nach Katverschiebungen. Was passiert, wenn ein Benutzer eine Kat-Weiterleitung, wo nicht vorher die Kategorie verschoben wurde oder wenn er die vorher per C+P woandershin kopiert hat, z. B. wie bei Category:Capilla del Santísimo Cristo de Burgos (Catedral de Santiago de Compostela) mit {{speedy|wrong name}} versieht? Dann würde es kein Verschiebelog geben und keinen Löschlogeintrag, wo der neue Katname drinstehen würde. Schaust du immer vorher in die Versionsgeschichten, ob die WL von vorherigen Verschiebungen kommen? Ansonsten wäre es evtl. besser, wenn man statt nur „Wrong name“ noch den Namen der Kat ins Löschlog standardmäßig mit übernehmen könnte. Also so eine Begründung ergänzen, z. B. so: „Wrong name, neuer Name: [[neuer Kategoriename]]“, den kann man einfach aus der vorherigen WL rauskopieren. Also einfach noch den Namen hinzufügen, wenn der in der Begründung fehlt. Es ist einfach verdammt schwierig, wenn man mal defekte WL fixen will, die auf so eine gelöschte WL zeigen, wo der neue Katname sowohl im Verschiebe- als auch im Löschlog fehlt. Ich hatte sogar selbst einige Kats nicht mehr nach eigenen SLAs wiedergefunden unter ihren neuen Namen, wo der Name nicht in den Logs stand, weil er nicht aus dem Bad-Name-Tag übernommen wurde und es kein Verschiebelog gab. Daher bin ich froh, dass du sie immer übernimmst.

Bei den vielen defekten WL vor einigen Monaten kam es oft vor, dass ich nicht wusste, war das gelöschte Linkziel nur eine leere Kat oder liegt sie woanders und wo dann? Insbesondere bei den Löschungen von Yann, der nie einen Grund angibt, sondern immer nur auf die Löschgründeseite COM:CSD verlinkt. Man sieht dann nie im Log, was nun der Löschgrund für die Kats war. Auch kam es leider schon oft vor, dass es weder Verschiebelog noch Löschlog gab, wo der neue Katname drinstand, das passiert nie, wenn die Vorlage {{Bad name}} verwendet und der Inhalt ins Löschlog übernommen wird. Daher ist die viel besser geeignet für diese Art von Schnelllöschungen, aber als Admin ändert man die Löschvorlage des Benutzers ja nicht vor der Löschung.
In den Fällen eben wurden die Kats ja verschoben, da gab es Verschiebelogs, aber bekommst du mit, wenn es vorher eine C+P-Verschiebung gab ohne Verschiebelogeintrag? Und packst du dann den neuen Katnamen ins Löschlog? Viele Grüße —176.1.6.99 09:04, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

Frage zu einer defekten WL ohne Category:Broken category redirects

Hallo Túrelio, das oben hattest du doch gesehen, oder? Es war auch mehr eine Anmerkung. Eine andere Frage: Weißt du zufällig, warum die Kat-Weiterleitung Category:Stained glass windows of Sebastianuskapelle Tauberbischofsheim seit der Löschung der Zielkat Category:Stained-glass windows of Sebastianuskapelle Tauberbischofsheim am 6. Juli durch Verschieben ohne Weiterleitung nicht automatisch in der Category:Broken category redirects aufschlägt? Ich habe mehrfach in diese Kat reingesehen, dort war sie nie drin. Was passiert da, hat es evtl. mit Purge etwas zu tun? Die WL kann dann mit Link auf die neue Zielkat Category:Stained-glass windows of Sebastianuskapelle (Tauberbischofsheim) auch weg, liegt dort nur noch wegen dieses Fehlers mit der Wartungskat, weswegen ich nachfragen wollte.

Ansonsten bin ich nahezu alle Kat-Weiterleitungen mit „Stained glass windows“ durch, es waren ja sehr viele (über 2000 mit großer Sicherheit). Nun sind hauptsächlich noch diverse Problemfälle übrig, z. B. müssten noch etliche der Zielkats verschoben werden (diverse falsche Namen, nicht nur fehlender Bindestrich) oder anderes wie C+P-Verschiebungen und längere Versionsgeschichten in den WL oder anderes. Da hatte ich etliche Problemfälle aufgeschoben. Jedenfalls sind es nun eher vereinzelte SDs (bad names) statt zigfache wie vorher. zu 1) Sorry, ich hatte letzten Tage nicht den Kopf dafür, um da einzutauchen; vielleicht im Laufe dieses Tages.

zu 2) warum nicht in "Broken category ..." — In der Tat merkwürdig, zumal die Broken-cat ja ausdrücklich gesetzt ist. Ich habs aber aufgegeben, mich über diese kleinen Inkonsistenzen der MediaWiki zu ärgern; auch ich finde oft in der Speedy-cat "Duplicates" Dateien, die gar keinen Duplicate-Baustein tragen, dennoch dort eine (unterschiedlich lange) Weile verbleiben und irgendwann wieder verschwunden sind. Dass es mit dem Browser-Cache/Purge zu tun hat, ist unwahrscheinlich, denn bei mir trat ja dasselbe Problem auf, obwohl ich die cat vorher nicht besucht hatte. Ja, lösch sie ruhig weg, nur der Link müsste halt angepasst werden. Ok, also gibt es keinen bekannten Grund für diese Dinge. Ich meine, ich hätte etwas Ähnliches schon mal irgendwo gesehen. Aber z. B. bei Category:A.W. Das ist also nicht immer so, an dieser Art Verschiebung ohne normale Seitenlöschung kann es also auch nicht gelegen haben. Dann nehme ich das einfach so hin, irgendein Bug oder so wird es schon gewesen sein. Durch Zufall findet man dann so was ab und zu mal. Ich dachte, vielleicht hängt es irgendwo im MediaWiki und durch Purge oder auch Nulledit könnte man es evtl. fixen, jedenfalls ist das gut möglich (eine Ursache ist das aber nicht). Aber durch Löschen sicher auch. :-)

Löschungen ohne WL beim Verschieben können ja auch Nicht-Admins machen, fand ich vor Kurzem mal heraus. Leider wird zu viel ohne WL verschoben, was gute normale WL gewesen wären, also ohne Fehler, Falschschreibung oder so. Und da kann es auch oft passieren, dass solche WL auf die alte Seite dann einfach stehen bleiben und nichts damit passiert. Entweder landen sie dann wirklich in der Wartungskat oder man sieht sie nicht mehr wie im Beispiel oben. Und irgendwann tauchen sie vielleicht wieder auf; in diesem Fall ist sie mit der normalen Suchfunktion nach diesen Schreibweisen wieder aufgetaucht, sie sind also auch nicht ewig aus dem Blickfeld heraus entschwunden. ;-)

Das heißt, die Duplikate, die keine sind, ignorierst du dann einfach und dann verschwinden sie von selbst irgendwann wieder. Auch schön. :-) Der Link auf die Endseite der Duplikate-Kat kann wohl auch wieder raus, der ist ja nun nutzlos. —176.1.6.109 13:08, 6 August 2025 (UTC)

Sure. However, the b/w photo is cropped at the bottom (feet are cropped away) compared to the other one. IMO, we can keep both, so that users in the other projects can choose which one to prefer. Recent deletion of openmod logo

I believe you recently deleted File:Openmod-logo-s2s4e-2020-srgb-907585.lores.png. On the grounds that fair use is not supported on Wikimedia. Please refer to this talk message. That logo was not present on Wikipedia under fair use but because the work itself fails to meet the creativity thresholds needed for copyright protection. In Europe (and now the UK) the test is "own intellectual creation" with some degree of intentionality present. I would like to hear your views before seeking reinstatement on this basis. Medical newspapers do indeed exist. Long time ago, I worked for many years (as a freelancer) for one of them in Germany. Physically, these newspapers (for some years we had even 2 of them in Germany) look like normal newspapers and were "build" like them. For sure they are not Medical (scientific) journals, as they are written by (medical) journalists, not by scientists. So, a category Medical newspapers might be justified, provided the items fit in it. For the newspapers currently in this category it needs to be checked whether they are indeed newspapers and not simply mis-categorized. Help:Namespaces/tr

Danke für deine ständige Hilfe bei den Schnelllöschungen. Da die Übersetzungsseiten manchmal etwas schwierig zu beurteilen sind und diese mitsamt den Übersetzungsunterseiten noch in der Schnelllöschkat drin ist, Folgendes dazu: Wenn man sich die Seite vor den Schnelllöschanträgen ansieht, dann sieht das so aus. Das soll eine Unterseite mit türkischem Text sein (tr ist Türkisch), daber es gibt keinerlei Türkisch auf der ganzen Seite. Damit ist sie überflüssig, weil sie nur eine Spiegelung der englischen Seite ist. Diese Seiten wurden im Januar 2025 offenbar von einem neuen Benutzer angelegt. Ich möchte damit NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh unterstützen, dass diese angeblichen Übersetzungsseiten für Türkisch, die gar keine sind, alle gelöscht gehören. Im Moment wird in der Übersicht oben auf der Seite "Other languages“ Türkisch mit halb übersetzt angegeben, aber es gibt in Wirklichkeit gar keine Übersetzungsunterseiten mit türkischer Übersetzung. Der Löschgrund G1 trifft es gut, es sind eher Testseiten, jedenfalls keine übersetzten Seiten. Diese mit speedy markierten Seiten mit /tr sollten daher alle gelöscht werden. Dann wird es auch in der Übersicht nicht mehr falsch als halb übersetzt angezeigt.

Ich stelle gerade übrigens noch fest, dass der rote Benutzer Special:CentralAuth/Abdulkadirozbu63, der diese angeblichen Übersetzungsseiten im Januar erstellte, gerade heute Nacht/Morgen erst von Johannnes89 global gesperrt wurde, siehe Antrag von heute. Die anderen beiden Dateien sind nun gesperrt für alle Nicht-Autopatroller, daher kann ich da nichts machen. Was auch nicht schlecht ist, wo es nun die WL gibt, ist, dass in der richtigen Kat Category:Tatsujirō Satō nun die WL mit den anderen beiden geschützten Dateien bereits als „Unterkat“ angezeigt wird und man sie so in der Kat schon finden kann, solange sie noch nicht umsortiert wurden. Ich weiß nicht, was es mit diesem wegen "long-term abuse" gesperrten Benutzer Contributions/79.50.238.228 auf sich hat, aber offenbar wurden da pauschal irgendwelche Edits revertiert. Macht nur wenig Sinn, wenn Dateien dadurch in gelöschten Kats landen. Hoffentlich werde ich nun nicht wegen des Fixens auch gesperrt, das wäre etwas blöd. Mal sehen.

Spricht eigentlich irgendwas dagegen, von diesen Schreibweisen ohne die Sonderzeichen Kat-Weiterleitungen auf die Seiten mit den japanischen Sonderzeichen einzurichten? In der de-Wikipedia wird das immer so gemacht, daher habe ich das hier auch schon etliche Male gemacht, insb. bei solchen japanischen Sonderzeichen, die auf keiner Tastatur drauf sind. Das kann niemand direkt eingeben. Ich denke, ich lege die gleich einfach als WL an, es muss ja keine doppelte Kat geben, WL reicht ja. Hello, you deleted the above-mentioned category. Could it be restored, or renamed to something similar? I named it like that because it was a fitting description of the album mentioned in the source of the pictures. Moreover, if Lord Broun-Ramsay made other pictures elsewhere, they would now be categorized under Malta, which would be a mistake. So if you don't mind, I would like to restore the category. are you aware that there is Category:Photographs by James Broun-Ramsay, which currently contains 10 images? Are there many Malta-associated images by him? If yes, a subcategory might indeed by meaningful. All ten are from the same album. As the original website writesː "The amazing photographs were snapped up by Jack Cator from Madliena recently. He said: ‘I acquired the original photo album dating from the 1850s to the 1870s at a London auction last year. It consists of 40 or so photographs and drawings of Malta.' The stunning images were part of a collection belonging to a Scottish aristocrat, the 1st Marquess of Dalhousie. Lord Ramsay, as he was also known, served as Governor General of India from 1848 to 1856. After his retirement, he moved to Malta where he lived for a time."

Help with revision deletion for several files

Hello Túrelio, I hope you're well. I need help from an administrator concerning revision deletion, so I'm writing you as I have uploaded files erroneously which contain information that shouldn't be visible (as in this file, I think you can spot the problem by comparing versions, but if not, let me know). Hello, I wanted to ask for your opinion. Do you think I should apply for adminship on Commons? Since you’re already an experienced administrator, your opinion is important to me. I have a good understanding of licensing rules (especially in Central Asian countries), and from time to time I participate in DR. After becoming an administrator I also plan to work on CSD and RfR. I am already an administrator on the kywiki, but there I mostly handle technical tasks and sometimes act as a mediator.

The main reason I’m considering requesting admin rights is that there are no administrators from my region — that is, from Central Asia. I could easily handle requests in languages such as Russian, Kyrgyz, and other related languages (see Robert Lindsay, p. 9). Category:Magazine issues

Hey, I'm trying to figure out what happened with Category:Magazine issues. It looks like User:Rathfelder removed several other categories from that category, and then a short time later you deleted it as empty. It now appears that several categories which used to be subcategories of Category:Magazine issues have now also had everything removed from them (e.g. Physique magazine issues, InfoWorld issues). Deleted Peng Liyuan categories

Why did you delete Category:Signatures of Peng Liyuan and Category:Audio files of Peng Liyuan?

The removal of the categories by the IP from File:Signature of Peng Liyuan, November 5, 2014.jpg and File:Peng Liyuan delivers a video message to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Forum on Women's Education and Poverty Reduction, July 20, 2021.mp3 should have been reverted. A previous IP tried to do the same thing and I reverted it months ago, so this is an edit war and should be resolved in a more appropriate way. [1], [2]. The category "Signatures of Peng Liyuan" was added to a file that depicts a signature of Peng Liyuan, and the category "Audio files of Peng Liyuan" was added to a file that depicts an audio message spoken by Peng Liyuan, so I do not understand why you deleted them. I've deleted them because they were empty. I wasn't aware of an edit-war. Anyway, as there seems to be only 1 file with a signature, a separate category seems to be unncessary. Ah, ok. This was more than a month ago. So, I didn't remember. Your userpage had been tagged by a colleague for speedy-criterion U3 Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion#User, in plain text "Inappropriate use of user pages.", exemplified as "These include user pages that contain purely advertising or promotional material." Wrt to your userpage, it could be interpreted as (sort of) promotional, regarding the wording and the content itself, which was not really related to the purpose of Commons. I admit that this is sometimes a judgement call. In your "case", the uploaded images (deleted) may also have contributed to the assessment as "promotional". On Commons, if a user uploads own artworks and introduces himself as an artist, this usually raises suspicions that Commons/Wikipedia is being used to promote the sale of one's own works. (I do not claim that this was your intention!) If you are already a known artist and have a Wikipedia article about you/your works, then there will be no problem with uploading your works to Commons, though the userpage should still be designed to be non-promotional. --Túrelio (talk) 09:26, 5 December 2025 (UTC)

Okay, this is a serious red flag for me. I’m actually glad I’m finding out now, while I’m still relatively new, that something about my uploads apparently violates the rules. I honestly have no idea why my artwork was deleted, but it’s better to learn this early than after investing years here. I’m trying to generously give away my paintings — releasing both the files and the rights completely for free to the public domain as a gift. If it’s going to be this difficult and unpredictable on Wikimedia Commons, I don’t want to keep uploading. I have hundreds more pieces I was excited to share, but I’m not willing to risk them all vanishing overnight just because someone decides they don’t meet the rules. So I’ll take my art to a more reliable platform where I can truly give it away freely without this kind of worry. Yes, I just saw that the website shows that error message. But there is another way to verify it. When you go to pib.gov.in, all you need to do is select Prime Minister's Office in ministry and then the file date accordingly. It will show the album. I know that is a long process compared to the existing one, but I am afraid this is the only way out as of now. But you can always verify the images will the direct link bcoz the ID is nothing but the last six digits of the direct link url. I would still try to do as much as I can myself.

First 5 images (Bihar) come from album 208751. The next 6+4 images (Indian team) come from 207222 and 207314. The next 10 images (Ram Mandir) are from 209527 and 209457. The next 7 images (Putin) come from 210717, 210713 and 210730. Next 2 images (Carney) from 209212 and next 3 (Meloni) from 209216. This is the most I can do right now bcoz I'm helpless here. Copyvio abuse

Hi! The account Bruno008 was registered on 2019 and has a considerable history of copyvio. In fact, I just sent another loading of his for deletion, due to fragrant copyright violation. In this moment, only two images uploaded by the user weren't deleted (besides the one marked now) and I couldn't find their original source. However, I see that similar titles have been uploaded by the user in the past, but they have since been deleted by copyvio: File:Antigo-Casarão-Da-Familia-Calmon.jpg vs. File:Antigo Casarão da Família Calmon.jpg and File:Praça 22 De Agosto.jpg. I wonder if these aren't the same images from the past, or if the own shady history of the user doesn't justify deletions. --HVL talk 14:32, 13 December 2025 (UTC)

I found that there's a script that can help you do this with just a single click from a LTA contributions page, so you don't have to go to each pages history to do that manually. It will definitely save your time. Just paste this to your User:Túrelio/common.js:

You deleted two images that are Creative Commons

Hi, @Túrelio. I believe you hastily deleted two files mistakenly marked for deletion that were both extracted from a Flickr account where they are marked as CC 2.0. The files seem to have been on Flickr for a decade or longer and if anyone claimed a copyright violation to them during this time, it was obviously not deemed as such. One of them, in fact, included some photos from an Argentine magazine from 1987 and even if we, for some strange reason, were to deem Flickr's labeling of this as Creative Commons, the laws of the country where it was published state that copyright protection for photographs only lasts for 20 years and this there was still no violation.

The two records with the files you deleted are:

I am aware that on Flickr both images show a compatible license. However, this licensing by the Flickr-account-holder is rather questionable. The first image is a low-resolution screenshot obviously from TV from year 2010. TV content is generally copyrighted, especially if that recent, and making a screenshot doesn't transfer any rights. The second image is a reproduction from a magazine from 1987. The 2 photos in the magazine-article were surely not shot by Mr. Kleinman, also the text of the article surely not written by himself. The copyright is with the photographer and the journalist or with the magazine. So, legally, both images are derivatives of the works of others. One cannot release them under a free license without expressed permission by the original copyright-holders. If that doesn't convince you, I can offer you to put both images into a regular deletion-request, which allows discussion. I don't believe a file marked as CC 2.0 on Flickr, grabbed from there, whose prior origin we don't know, should have been marked as a copyright violation on Wikipedia as Wikipedia was adequately protected legally because the file was grabbed from a source that indicated it could be used. Moreover, you refer to the copyright of the photos in the magazine scan and since they are from 1987 from an Argentine publication, the laws of that country indicate that they are no longer subject to copyright protections. I don't really want to initiate a long-winded deletion request process, but I feel these were deleted in haste and that should not have happened. It is discouraging for contributors when these decisions are enforced so arbitrarily and with no prior discussion. Hi PidgeCopetti,  Done. You are not the only one who faces this problem when uploading PDFs. I have no idea what the cause is. ich antworte mal auf deutsch, da :de ja dein Home-Wiki ist. Generell: wenn es sich um von dir hochgeladene Dateien handelt, kannst du sie ja auf jeden Fall unter dem Reiter "Dateien" bzw. "Hochgeladene Dateien dieses Benutzer" finden, wenn auch nur in chronol. Upload-Reihenfolge. Zur konkreten Frage: wenn ich die Kategorie mit dem Tippfehler gelöscht habe, dann war sie zu diesem Zeitpunkt mit Sicherheit bereits leer, zumal die Löschung ja nur 13 Minuten nach Erstellung der Kategorie erfolgte. Changing naming files

However I have just uploaded the original file I meant "File:Sistema de las contradicciones económicas o Filosofía de la miseria, volumen 2.pdf" but I had to change one word to lower case "volumen" since the original with the capital letter "Volumen" title was for the former deleted page. Please undelete this. This is not a "scaled-down version"—they have different minute counts. I know that the previous version had at least 3h12m, the new version has 3h9m. And deleting this, rather than just making it into a redirect only, made it impossible for me to check and compare the two files.

Also, that version of the file was being used on Wikisource for a transcription. So, deleting that file screwed with the minute count there. Please consider Wikisource use when doing these deletions, as there are hundreds of pages that are using this file there that require seconds-level calculation. An enormous cache of personal pictures

I need help to work out what, if anything, to do. I have found a huge cache of probably out of scope pictures including File:05Puffing Billy Novem 2011 (6317817690).jpg which has child privacy issues. That picture led me to the cache (I ran the batch task on them).

Random checks show that they appear to be random scenes, friend, colleagues, family, and all better suited to a file sharing site. I'm not sure it's a COM:AN task, but flagging them all for deletion will just create a monstrous set of DRs. 1) wrt the above mentioned image: d'accord in general. However, this specific image was shot in 2011, so nearly 15 years ago; meaning, the boy will no longer be recognizable by this image (except for parents and close friends). This could at least ease the privacy-issue. On the other hand it's out-of-scope IMO, as the boy is the main-object and not the steam-engine.

2) wrt to the mentioned cache: I would recommend you to post the issue either on COM:VP or on COM:AN AND present an example-image each for the (likely existing) different scenarios (such as the one mentioned above), taking into account privacy-issues (shot by own parents, still a current image or not), scope-issues and eventually more. Ultimately, it may come down to grouping the images from the aforementioned cache according to scenario types and submitting a joint deletion request for each of these groups. I am aware that this means more work, but at the same time increases the likelihood of finally having workable DRs. --Túrelio (talk) 10:17, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

I agree. One massive DR would never reach any form of consensus. I think a maximum or 20 per DR is workable. There's no rush for my doing this. What are your thoughts about asking the uploader first? It may be that they 'misunderstand' the purpose and scope fo Commons?

1) the current content of your Commons-userpage User:Denisantana is not really what is expected from a Commons:User page, as IMO nothing in it is relevant for contributing to Commons. It might be more fitting for your userpage on :es-Wikipedia.

2) wrt your question: I assume that with "portal en Wikipedia" you mean a regular article on Wikipedia. I don't know the specific policy at :es-Wikipedia, but in "my" :de-Wikipedia in order to be relevant/notable (merit an article), an author needs to have at least 2 regularly published books (no "print-on-demand"); see de:Wikipedia:Relevanzkriterien (in german!). There are also criteria for academics. But these criteria usually differ a bit between wikipedias. In general, important aspects are the number and reception (impact, citation) of scientific publications. While in a number of countries, works of art permanently installed in public space, can be legally reproduced (= freedom of panorama), Greece regrettably has no such exception, see Commons:Freedom of panorama/Europe#Greece. So, the permission of all content-contributors to this information-board would be required. Thank you for that. So far, I've analyzed a lot and compared three or four German categories and two Croatian ones. I need to take a break to make some things clear to me. Also, to see if a structure of multiple categories can be created, which is what I have noticed in other countries. I had to simplify some things, for example removing municipalities from the categories, because there simply isn't enough material for them, and we don't have districts. Hello. I think I solved the problem, please check. Description: From the very beginning, it bothered me that the categories Cities Photographs and Cities Images are very weakly connected, or rather not at all. But I also noticed at the very beginning that the categories States Photographs and States Images in the German part of Commons, which I consider a model for Counties in hr, are connected differently, simply logically and well. Hallo Túrelio, danke schön, für deine Aufräumaktionen bei den Kulturdenkmalcats. Bei manchen Cats ist das verschieben aber nicht notwendig zum Beispiel bei Cats wie

• Category:Schillerstraße 33, Einfriedung (Erfurt)
• Category:Schillerstraße 33, Schule (Erfurt)
• Category:Schillerstraße 33, Turnhalle (Erfurt)
• Category:Schillerstraße 33, Wohnhaus (Erfurt)

Die einzelnen objekten haben alle eigenen Eintrag in der de.wp in der de:Liste der Kulturdenkmale in der Löbervorstadt. Mittelfristig bekommen die auch alle einen eigenen Wikidata-Eintrag. Die Thüringer Denkmallisten nutzen eine Vorlage mit Upload-Funktion, diese zieht die entsprechende Commonscat (im idealfall die vom Objekt), dies ist jetzt "nur" die vom Gebäude und nicht die spezifische. zunächst erst einmal ein herzliches Dankeschön für die Mitwirkung an der Wikipedia.

Die Unter-Kategorien zu den einzelnen Denkmalobjekten hab ich ganz bewusst zusammengefasst. Zum einen um die Kategorie-Pfade möglichst "flach" zu halten und zum anderen (das war für mich der primäre Grund der Zusammenführung) die Auflistung analog der "Denkmalliste der Stadt Erfurt (Stand: 04.1.2022)" zu führen. Hier Werden die Denkmalobjekte adressbezogen mit einer zugehörigen Objektbezeichnung (z.B.: "Wohnhaus + Einfriedung") geführt.

Sukzessiv wäre ich auch dafür die Wikipedia-Listen (u.A. de:Liste der Kulturdenkmale in der Löbervorstadt) dahingehend anzupassen.

Beispielhaft hierfür wäre:

Category:Gustav-Freytag-Straße 6 (Erfurt)

Hier hab ich schon mal die Wikimedia-Kategorien zusammengefasst, ein Wikidata-Objekt angelegt und die entsprechende Wikipedia-Liste dahinhigehend überarbeitet und ergänzt.

Was meint ihr dazu? :-)

Question regarding deletion of MIRUD performance photographs

I am writing regarding several photographs of my performances that were recently deleted from Wikimedia Commons for suspected copyright issues.

I want to clarify that these images are owned by me. The photographs were created by my own team for official promotional and performance use.

The external website referenced in the deletion notice appears to have republished those images after sourcing them from my social media and promotional materials. Their publication of the photos does not make them the copyright holder.

To resolve this properly, I have already contacted the Wikimedia permissions team to formally confirm copyright ownership and provide the required licensing verification.

I wanted to clarify this directly and ask if there is anything further required from my side to help restore the files once verification is completed.

The Commons permissions team has restored five images under my name. I was wondering if you could assist in selecting the most suitable one for use in the infobox so that the main image can also be restored now that the copyright permissions have been cleared through Wikimedia Commons.

Question about deleted files

Hi @Túrelio, could you please clarify why the files (File:Binz Da Poet.png, File:Trường Giang.png, File:Tiến Luật.png, File:Hứa Minh Đạt.png) were deleted? These images are screenshots from videos explicitly licensed under Creative Commons. I would appreciate it if you could double-check them.
